Unauthorised Vessel Modifications

We see many vessels either back here at our works for repairs, or at customer premises, where 'Mr Nobody' has carried out unauthorised modifications.

These modifications may have been carried out many years ago, and may even have operated "without a problem", but is it right to continue to operate the vessel?
Short answer is No!
These are cryogenic pressure vessels and should be covered by manufacturers original build specifications and approvals. If 'Mr Nobody' simply decides to change a fitting, a safety device, re-pipe up the vessel, then it is being operated outside this original approval and the consequences of getting it wrong could be fatal.
Owners / users of pressure equipment have a duty of care to ensure equipment is compliant, maintained, serviced and operated correctly by trained personnel.
Please - do not make unauthorised vessel modifications!
If in doubt, ask!
